Connect between travel and thoughts
Am sitting at the airport and feeling new.. fresh new invigorating thoughts are coming to me...i realise that getting out of our daily lives helps us break our thought patterns...we get too caught up in the web of daily chores and activities..our thoughts get aligned to patterns...being away from that helps us get a third person perspective on things on our life..we might find solutions to niggling problems..we may give up a self defeating thought or habit...we may plan to do something in a new and more productive way.
Nowadays, on a daily basis our lives are dominated by electronic media, phone calls, client meetings, work, etc. We just keep running on the ferris wheel without actually reaching anywhere.
With a regular cappucino at hand and almost an hour before i board the aircraft, here i sit sharing with you my thoughts.
Could you plan a short vacation at least a 1000 miles away from home? Without an agenda. Just to sit around and mull over stuff...just to not think actively but watch your thoughts like an observer.

My father in law
Thought of sharing another of my life stories wherein I get the insights about the effect of clothes on our psychology or mental make up.
Diwali or Deepawali is a grand affair in our family like Ganeshutsav is to Maharastrians and Durga pooja is to Bengalis.
We all get together as a family at the family's anscestral home on this occassion, buy clothes and sweets, light diyas, make sumptuous food etc.
This year when we reached our home town , my father in law met us with a month old beard which looked unkempt on his otherwise very handsome and graceful face.
Let me describe my father in law a bit.
He is someone who is totally self made like my own father is. His generation has been a part of India's struggle for finding her feet in the world.
Both of them have been the crisp and superbly intelligent Bankers of their time.
But , now my father in law is a spiritual recluse, contented with bare minimum and all the time glowing with the spiritual radiance of an enlightened soul.
Now, since it was Diwali , we kept imploring him to shave off his beard but he would not listen.
Two days before diwali , we together went to the shopping mall and brought him a few shirts, trousers and sweaters.
He loved the brand new clothes which fitted him well and the colors suited him.
Lo behold!! On the morning of Diwali day, we saw him in his resplendent old handsome avatar with a face clean shaven and new clothes.
He smilingly told all of us with a twinkle in his eyes that he thought that his looks should suit his new clothes. So, he finally decided to get rid of the unkempt beard. He looked and felt much more happier and in sync with the festive spirit.
He was energetic and had a spring in his step because was looking and feeling great.
So, at least the new clothes had a positive impact on him.

How clothes and general appearance affects a patient
Yesterday I went to visit a friend's dad who had suffered a paralytic stroke.
He was sitting in cotton track pants and a worn out kurta. Some successful sessions of physiotherapy had made his arm functional but the legs still were lifeless.
I sat and spoke with him for some time..he seemed sad and morose. A little non attentive and listless too.
After some time, my friend's cousin who had come from the US suggested that we should click some pictures together.
My friend quickly changed her father into a well ironed crisp shirt. She spruced him up. Combed his hair and
I actually saw the transformation right in front of my eyes.
Uncle was suddenly so much more attentive and cheerful. He seemed to be filled with a new energy.
He was initiating conversation and smiling much more. I could see hope and happiness in his eyes when people around him commented about his happy and healthy look in the pictures.
This is when it struck me that how a small change in clothes and appearance had affected Uncle's mental frame work.

Insight
Right now am sitting at the reception area of a famous Endocrinologist.
There are some Medical Representatives who obviously belong to different organizations.
The interesting fact is that after some general small talk, I discovered that the ones who were sharply dressed and with polished shoes , belonged to the bigger and more successful pharma companies.
These well dressed gentlemen were displaying impeccable body language and etiquette too.
So the possibilities could be -
Their well put together image had got them the job in these bigger organizations
Or, because of company's dressing culture, they were so well put together hence they were more productive and an overall contribution to the organization's financial success.
What do you say?
What is the need of Dress Code in an organization ??????
Whenever a dress code is introduced in an organization, these are the changes which have been observed
IMPROVED COMMUNICATION-
both within the Company and outside with the clients or business associates
INCREASED CONSIDERATION AND CIVILITY
Both within and outside .A better camarederie spirit and bonhomie
INCREASED COOPERATION AND LOYALTY
Feeling of 'us vs them', feeling of belongingness and team spirit.
DECREASED TARDINESS AND RESULTANT TURNOVER
DECREASED COMPLAINTS
INCREASED CREATIVITY
INCREASE IN POSTIVE ATMOSPHERE, SELF ESTEEM AND SELF CONFIDENCE
INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
INCREASED QUALITY OF BOTH GOODS AND SERVICES
RESULT IS .......INCREASED SALES.

Handshake for seated women
Are you in doubt regarding handshakes while seated?
Important Rule for shaking hands when you are seated :-
You may offer your hand while seated and may choose to stand up only if you consider the person in front of you of a higher stature/status and respectable.
Otherwise it is perfectly alright to offer your hand with a slight palm down to the person
